If you are unhappy with your smile, but you do not want an invasive dental procedure, consider dental veneers. At Magnolia Modern Dentistry, we offer this non-invasive procedure to help our patients with stained, chipped, cracked, and damaged teeth.
How Dental Veneers can Help
Dental veneers are pieces of porcelain that lay over your existing enamel. They cover up any unsightly issues you have on your teeth, giving your teeth a smooth appearance. The material of dental veneers has a natural tooth appearance because it reflects light, blending in with your surrounding teeth.
Dental veneers are meant for minor cosmetic issues. For example, did you crack your tooth in an accident, or do you drink too much coffee and have stained teeth? These are both great examples of what dental veneers can help. Do not worry, though, our dentists can tell you almost instantly if your issues are something veneers can help or if you need a different cosmetic dental procedure, which we offer as well, such as dental bonding or crowns.
Use Caution with Dental Veneers
While veneers are a durable way to correct your teeth’s cosmetic issues, they are not strong enough to withstand excessively hard foods or non-food items. If you bite into hard foods or into non-food items, you could crack the veneer and even your own enamel. While our dentists could easily fix the issue for you, it is best if you avoid these types of foods.
Dental veneers also stain easily. Unlike your enamel, though, we cannot whiten it. If you were to whiten your teeth with dental veneers, only your tooth enamel would whiten and the veneers would not. We recommend whitening your teeth before you get dental veneers and then try avoiding excessive amounts of staining food and drinks to keep your veneers in good condition.
The dental veneer process is non-invasive, but it does take two appointments. At the first appointment, we determine where you need the cosmetic procedure. We will evaluate the health of your mouth and make sure you are a good candidate for veneers.
If you are a good candidate, we will prepare the teeth by removing a part of the enamel. We will then take impressions of the teeth to send to our lab. Our technicians will make custom veneers that fit the shape of your teeth as well as have a similar color as your other teeth to ensure that you have a seamless appearance when you smile.
Once we receive the veneers, you will come in for your second appointment. This is when we place the veneers and make any necessary adjustments. We will make sure you are comfortable with the fit and happy with the appearance. Just like that, you will have a beautiful smile once again.
